I started my career as a local news reporter at The Straits Times, where I worked on investigative weekend feature packages across multiple beats, particularly on touchy social issues such as illegal organ transplants, teenage pregnancy, rogue property agents, and homosexuality and the civil society.
Achievements
I was part of the team that reported on a high-profile case of illegal organ donation between a triad leader and tycoon, which won a Singapore Press Holdings' Special Award for Excellence in February 2009.
A month later, our team's report on rogue property agents received a second Singapore Press Holdings' Special Award for Excellence. Our series of articles prompted new government regulations for property agents.
