Design thinking is the magic that happens when designers and business executives meet as equals at the boardroom table to weave design methodologies into corporate strategy. This nascent field that had spread from Silicon Valley to New York and is now gaining recognition in Asia was one of the beats I covered at Fortune magazine.
Fortune Magazine
As Assignment Editor at Time Inc, I coordinated between the marketing and editorial teams to produce print, digital and video content for our three prominent Fortune-branded conferences: the 2017 Fortune Global Forum and Brainstorm Tech conferences held in Guangzhou, and the inaugural Fortune Brainstorm Design conference in Singapore in 2017. The latter is co-organised by TIME, Fortune and Wallpaper* magazines with the support of the Singapore Economic Development Board and the DesignSingapore Council.
Ahead of the conferences, I interviewed CEOs and leading designers in the US and Asia for feature articles on Fortune's online website and print magazine on design and design thinking-related topics and global retail giants including Starbucks, PepsiCo, Uniqlo, Nike and Dyson for Fortune's 2018 Business By Design list of 25 global companies that have used design to drive business transformation.
